If convicted she faces up to 10 years in prison. The U.S. was unable to gain consular access to her until March, when she was found in “good condition.” Two weeks ago, the U.S. reclassified Griner’s case and considered her to be “wrongfully detained” in Russia, and a spokesperson for the State Department told ទស្សនាវដ្តី Forbes Special Presidential Envoy Roger Carstens is leading the team pushing for her release.

The Phoenix Suns are one of the only NBA teams who have pushed for Griner’s release. During their playoff run, the team put her initials and her number on their court.
