Following its maiden NFT launch, game developer Yomi Games announced the funding of $2 million in a seed round. Hypersphere Ventures, Infinity Ventures Crypto, Culture Capital, Maveron, Momentum 6, Taureon, and a number of angel investors participated in the seed round.

6,666 Hand Drawn Generative Onis

Yomi Games has declared that it aspires to be the Zynga of crypto by developing casual, social games that are more accessible to individuals who are new to cryptocurrency gaming. The company has stated that it will release games first on mobile devices. The seed round cash will be used to help the studio realize its aim of creating blockchain games for casual audiences.

Yomi Games’ first NFT collection, Oni Squad, was released as a free mint in January and comprises 6,666 hand-drawn generative Onis. The collection’s first day saw a trade volume of 300 ETH (more than $1 million at the time).

It was released alongside Oni Mansion, a minigame in which these NFTs can be used as playable objects. In the game, players can work together to customize an NFT home and participate in daily missions to earn tokens, which can then be used to upgrade mansions further.
