Singapore, Hong Kong lucrative Asian markets

Hong Kong recently បានប្រកាស a new crypto licensing system to bring the sector under the anti-money laundering (AML) rules.

Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) CEO Eddie Yue also said at a recent meeting of G20 financial officials that despite the industry’s flaws, cryptocurrencies are expected to be a major component of future financial systems.

Yue had បានកត់សម្គាល់, “Despite the Terra-Luna incident, I think crypto and Defy won’t disappear – though they might be held back – because the technology and the business innovation behind these developments are likely to be important for our future financial system,”

Sun also remarked that “Private banks generally are going to start to embrace crypto,”

Meanwhile, Singapore is also broadening its cryptocurrency regulations after being the most sought-after crypto hub up until early this year. That said, several crypto startups are registered in the island nation with restaurants in the country accepting crypto payments.

However, the Minister in charge of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) revealed recently that the agency is considering tighter curbs in the crypto sector, which include restricting public marketing and advertising of cryptocurrency, ensuring disclaimers around its risks, releasing guidelines for the sector, and removing cryptocurrency ATMs from public areas, among other legislations.
